December 12, 1931: "Construction of a network of private telephone lines connecting practically every part of the 11th district of the forest fire protection branch of the Wisconsin conservation commission and the erection of four watch towers in the district is rapidly nearing completion, according to F. G. Wilson, area fire warden, who is working out of here in supervision of the construction activities.
The towers are to be located at Friendship; Quincy Bluff, southwest of Friendship; Camp Douglas and Cranberry Rock." (The Daily Tribune)
