January 22, 1943: "The State Conservation Commission has started construction work on the Cappeln forest fire tower located near Cappeln and close to the Warren County line.
This lookout tower will be the third erected in the Daniel Boone state forest protection district, which includes timberlands in St. Charles, Warren and Montgomery counties." (The Marthasville Record)

January 14, 1943: "The state conservation commission has started construction work on the Cappeln forest fire tower located about 12 miles southwest of here near the Warren county line. This lookout tower will be the third erected in the Daniel Boone state forest protection district, which includes timberlands in St. Charles, Warren and Montgomery counties." (Joplin Globe)
1945-1946: The 'Official Manual of the State of Missouri' indicates that the towersite is owned by the Missouri Conservation Commission and is 6.6 acres in size.
