MIDDLE INLET
Wisconsin - Marinette County - Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
February 5, 2016: "A pair of Marinette County landmarks could soon be removed. Last year, the Wisconsin DNR decommissioned fire watch towers across the state after deciding the structures are no longer an asset to wildfire detection. As part of that decision, Marinette County became liable for the two, unmanned towers that stand in the county. Pete Villas is Marinette County’s Forest and Park Administrator. He says right now, the DNR is willing to pay for taking down the towers. Marinette County’s fire towers are located near Cedarville and Middle Inlet. Villas says it’s uncertain when the towers will be removed. The Marinette County Forestry and Parks Committee approved the plan to remove the fire towers Thursday." (Bay Cities Online)
