November 10, 1950: "Work has been started on a conservation commission lookout tower in Miller county--to be known as the Eugene tower--and to be located on Highway 54 at the Miller and Cole county line.
The tower will be 100 feet high and plans call for it to be in operation by 1951.
Tom Farris of Olean has been employed as the forest towerman at the tower, which will be under the supervision of the Lake Ozark fire protection district with headquarters at Camdenton." (Daily Capital News)
