FY 1969-70: "The Bootheel District grew out of the planning stage and is now under-going the construction phase. One lookout tower near Bloomfield was erected for this district." (Annual Report of the Missouri Department of Conservation)
June 8, 1973: "Willis Albert Layton was found guilty of a charge of littering at the Bloomfield lookout tower, April 13. Layton was fined $50 and given a 90-day jail sentence, suspended upon payment of fine and costs." (The Daily Standard)
May 13, 1975: "The Stoddard County Sheriff's Department received a report early today that the fire tower located near Bloomfield, had been broken into and several acts of vandalism committed. This dreak in is believed to have occurred Monday night." (The Daily Standard)
