1939: "Three towers being erected in 1939 include 67-foot tower at Leasburg." Five acres were acquired by the Conservation Commission for the purpose of erecting a fire tower. (Missouri Conservation Commission Annual Report)
September 28, 1939: "The State Conservation Commission recently trapped seven beavers on the Meramec river and removed them to the beaver refuge in Howell county. It also authorized the construction of a dwelling and garage for the fire tower to be located at Leasburg." (The Sullivan News)
September 29, 1939: "These are busy days for the Missouri Conservation Commission. In a bulletin issued this week, Director I.T. Bode, said the Commission's activities during the last month included the following: Dwelling, garage, started at Leasburg fire tower site." (Thayer News)

September 13, 1945: "Merrell Stone returned from war and resumed his employment as fire watcher at the Leasburg tower and Walter Lattimore, who was pinch hitting for him, is now in the nursery in the Meramec State Park." (The Sullivan News)
1945-1946: The 'Official Manual of the State of Missouri' indicates that the towersite is owned by the Missouri Conservation Commission and is 5 acres in size.
