LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN
Wisconsin - Lincoln County
June 10, 1972: "Charles Wilda, charged with toppling a fire lookout tower and trying to topple another tower last fall, was found innocent Friday by reason of insanity.
Lincoln County Court Judge Donald Schnabel said he based his ruling on psychiatric examinations conducted after Wilda, 29, of Whitelaw, entered his plea April 12 of innocent by reason of insanity.
Wilda had been named in six counts, including criminal damage to property, in the toppling of a department of Natural Resources fire lookout tower Nov. 5.
He also was accused of attempted criminal damage to property in the removal of bolts from an AT&T microwave tower the same day.
Both towers were on Lookout Mountain in Lincoln County." (The Milwaukee Sentinel)
