May 31, 1932: "A fire lane which will be three miles in length when completed, is being constructed southeast of Birchwood, Wis. Construction of the fire tower authorized by the state conservation commission has not been started." (The Sheboygan Press)
1952: A 110-foot ladder type steel tower erected.
January 6, 1983: "Sealed bids will be received by the State of Wisconsin, Department of Natural Resources at the Park Falls DNR Area Headquarter located at Park Falls, Wisconsin for a fire tower situated at the following location: Birchwood Fire Tower - Sec 19, T36N, R9W, Rusk Co.
Approximate height of the steel fire tower is 100 feet." (The Capital Times)
