August 16, 1946: "Forest Patrolman E. E. Covington of the Timpson forest fire lookout tower reported one forest fire during July which burned over 8 acres of forest land. This brings the Shelby county record for 1946 to 23 forest fires with 1191 acres of forest land burned." (Timpson Weekly Times)
October 30, 1964: "HELP WANTED" "Texas Forest Service crewman-equipment operator needed. Must live within a 12-mile distance of Timpson Lookout Tower which is situated about 6 miles SE of Timpson.
Qualifications: Age 21 - 55; minimum of 8 years of school; experience in operation of trucks and tractors; able to pass physical examination. Work a minimum of 900 hours annually. Salary of $100.00 per month.

ABOUT 6 MILES SOUTHEAST OF TIMPSON.
TIMPSON T.S.F.S. L.O.T. IS A 4-LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE WITH
A GLASS ENCLOSE CAB, ABOUT A 100 FEET IN OVER-ALL HEIGHT AND
IS COLORED GRAY. REFERENCE MARK NO. 4 FOR STATION BAKER BY
WAS ESTABLISHED UNDER THE CENTER.
TO REACH THE STATION FROM RAIL ROAD STATION IN TIMPSON, GO
EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAY NO. 59 FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE JUNCTION OF
STATE ROAD NO. 87, TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTHERLY ON STATE HIGHWAY
NO. 87 FOR 2.2 MILES TO THE JUNCTION OF FARM ROAD NO. 415, TURN
LEFT AND CONTINUE SOUTHERLY ON STATE HIGHWAY NO. 87 FOR 3.6
MILES TO A DRIVE WAY ON THE RIGHT AND THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE
RIGHT AS DESCRIBED, TURN RIGHT ON THE TRACK ROAD AND GO
WESTERLY FOR 0.9 MILE TO THE LOOKOUT TOWER.
