July 8, 1937: "Work has been started on the basement and cistern for the lookout's cabin at the High Tower lookout site. The basement is now almost complete." (Shannon County Democrat)
July 29, 1937: "Surfacing on truck trail No. 265 is progressing rapidly. At the present time the road with crushed rock from 'B' Highway to High Hill tower." (Shannon County Democrat)
1938: A 100-foot steel tower erected.
January 13, 1938: "Work on the new telephone line to High Hill Tower has proceeded to the digging of the holes and it won't be long until they are set, ready for the wire." (Shannon County Democrat)
April 28, 1938: "The High Hill metallic telephone line has been completed. High Tower is now on the regular Forest Service fire detection network, increasing the efficiency of the system a great deal." (Shannon County Democrat)
