February 24, 1938: "Work has been started on the site for the new tower on Tram Ridge. The lookout station will be known as Tram Tower and will be located at a point 4 miles southwest of Winona and 4 miles southeast of Bartlett. The structure now in use at Possum Trot will be used at the new location. Tram Tower will be a great help in locating fires in the northern part of the district." (Shannon County Democrat)
April 21, 1938: "The fire-detection tower at Possum Trot has been torn down, and will be re-erected on the Tram Ridge within the next few days." (Shannon County Democrat)
April 28, 1938: "Work on the erection of the Tram Tower has been started. A Forest Service Truck trail and metallic telephone line will be constructed to the new site." (Shannon County Democrat)
May 19, 1938: "Plans are being made to improve the site at Tram Tower. Towerman's cabin, out-buildings, water system and general landscaping will be undertaken." (Shannon County Democrat)
July 14, 1938: "Excavation for the basement of the Lookout Dwelling at Tram Tower is under way. Improvements at this lookout site will include: lookout dwelling, combination garage and workshop, site fence, cistern and latrine." (Shannon County Democrat)
July 11, 1940: "Mr. and Mrs. Willie Martin moved from the Tram Tower to the High Tower one day recently." (Shannon County Democrat)

STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE CLARK NATIONAL FOREST
LOOKOUT TOWER LOCATED ABOUT 3 MILES SOUTHWEST OF WINONA AND
ABOUT 7 MILES EAST OF BIRCH TREE. IT IS NEAR THE LINE BETWEEN
SECTIONS 26 AND 27, T 29 N, R 4 W. IT IS A FOUR-LEGGED STEEL
STRUCTURE WITH AN ENCLOSED OBSERVATION ROOM AT THE TOP AND THE
OVER-ALL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 75 FEET.
TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 60 AND STATE
HIGHWAY 19 ABOUT 1 MILE WEST OF WINONA, GO SOUTH ON HIGHWAY
19 FOR 0.75 MILE TO A GRAVELED ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO
WEST AND SOUTHWEST ON GRAVELED ROAD FOR 1.3 MILES TO A FORK.
TAKE RIGHT FORK AND GO SOUTHWEST ON GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.7 MILE
TO THE LOOKOUT TOWER.
