DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1962 (VBM) STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE CLARK NATIONAL FOREST LOOKOUT TOWER LOCATED ABOUT 3 MILES SOUTHWEST OF WINONA AND ABOUT 7 MILES EAST OF BIRCH TREE. IT IS NEAR THE LINE BETWEEN SECTIONS 26 AND 27, T 29 N, R 4 W. IT IS A FOUR-LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE WITH AN ENCLOSED OBSERVATION ROOM AT THE TOP AND THE OVER-ALL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 75 FEET.
TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 60 AND STATE HIGHWAY 19 ABOUT 1 MILE WEST OF WINONA, GO SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 19 FOR 0.75 MILE TO A GRAVELED ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO WEST AND SOUTHWEST ON GRAVELED ROAD FOR 1.3 MILES TO A FORK. TAKE RIGHT FORK AND GO SOUTHWEST ON GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.7 MILE TO THE LOOKOUT TOWER.
