October 20, 1948: "Two towers will be erected in Jackson parish within the next two months. Both will be relocations of old towers one of which will be moved from Vernon to one mile east of Clay and the other will come from Sikes in Winn parish to Hood's Mill community five miles south of Chatham. The one to be moved to Clay will be moved in three weeks. The one to be relocated from Sikes will get under way in about 45 days." (The Monroe News-Star)

SIKES LOOKOUT TOWER OBSERVATION CABIN WHICH IS A SQUARE METAL
CABIN, GRAY IN COLOR WITH WINDOWS ON ALL SIDES, 110 FEET IN
HEIGHT AND SUPPORTED BY 4 CHANNEL STEEL LEGS.
LOCATED ABOUT 3 MILES EAST OF SIKES, 0.35 MILE SOUTH OF STATE
HIGHWAY 126, IN SECTION 26. T 13 N. R 1 W.
