December 12, 1931: "Construction of a network of private telephone lines connecting practically every part of the 11th district of the forest fire protection branch of the Wisconsin conservation commission and the erection of four watch towers in the district is rapidly nearing completion, according to F. G. Wilson, area fire warden, who is working out of here in supervision of the construction activities.

May 31, 1968: "Moved by Voss, seconded by Carstensen, that Marion Konash, the Civil Defense Director, be allowed to approach the Nekoosa District of the Conservation Department, to ask permission to use their watch tower on Cranberry Rock during severe weather warning.
