FY 1948-49: A 4 acre towersite was acquired. (Missouri Conservation Commission Annual Report)
February 23, 1950: "A 60 foot lookout tower for the purpose of protection against forest fires has been constructed and is now in operation with Ted Edwards of Warsaw in charge. It is the second such tower to be constructed in Benton county and is located about four miles southeast of here on the Lakeview Heights road. It is said the greatest danger from forest fires is during the early spring and the autumn and winter months of November and December. For this reason tower men will be at their posts 24 hours a day at these particular seasons. Radio equipment has been installed with direct contact to other towers, headquarters being at Camdenton. A jeep with firefighting equipment including a 180 gallon water tank and pump is furnished to each tower man. Funds with which to meet expenses of the tower will be obtained from the sale of fishing and hunting licenses. From the lookout windows are towns of Lincoln, Ionia, Cole Camp and Stover can be observed. Warsaw being obstructed from the view due to the fact that it is situated in the Osage river valley and is surrounded by high rocky cliffs and many wooded hills." (The Sedalia Democrat)
September 4, 1958: "Ted Edwards, 51, forest towerman for the Conservation Commission, died at his home in Warsaw August 26 following a lingering illness. Edwards started to work for the Conservation Commission in November, 1949, and was assigned the position of towerman at Lincoln lookout tower, in Benton county. He served in that capacity for the past nine years." (The Index)
