November 22, 1934: "The foundation for the Marcoot tower is being dug at present time and the tower will be completed in about a week after the foundation is poured. Assistant Leader Bierman and his detail under the supervision of Construction Foreman Jones will build this tower which is three miles from Marcoot, Mo.
The new tower will be slightly different than the present towers at Buick and Czar, in that a stairway will be used instead of the ladder, to reach the cab. The tower will be ninety-nine feet, nine inches height, to the floor of the cab" (The Salem Post and The Democrat-Bulletin)

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1939 (FBQ)
STATION IS ABOUT 11 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF BUNKER IN THE
NORTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION 18, R 3 W, T 33 N, AND ON A PROMINENT
WOODED RIDGE. IT IS 141.6 FEET EAST OF THE U.S. FORESTRY SERVICE
MARCOOT LOOKOUT TOWER, 70 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY
NO. 72, AND 104 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CATTLE GUARD TO THE LOOKOUT
TOWER. THE MARK PROJECTS 6 INCHES ABOVE THE
GROUND AND IS STAMPED MARCOOT 1939. TO REACH THE STATION FROM
BUNKER, DRIVE NORTHWEST ON STATE HIGHWAY NO. 72 ABOUT 12 MILES
TO THE TOP OF THE DIVIDE AND THE LOOKOUT TOWER AND THE
STATION ON THE LEFT OR WEST SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY.
THE U.S. FORESTRY SERVICE LOOKOUT TOWER NAMED MARCOOT IS 141.6
FEET WEST OF THE STATION. IT IS A FOUR-LEGGED STEEL TOWER,
ABOUT 110 FEET HIGH, AND HAS A GLASSED-IN LOOKOUT ROOM WITH A
FINIAL ON TOP.
