CHETEK
Wisconsin - Barron County
November 29, 1953: "A new fire lookout tower, which has been under construction for several months, will be officially opened soon.
The lookout tower is located near Chetek, a mile east of Mud Lake. The new tower will extend lookout protection over a four township area in Barron county, a part of the Ladysmith fire protection district. It rises 100 feet from a hillside just above the J.A. Brann farm, and will be manned during the fire season by Brann's son. A short wave radio connects it with other towers near Ladysmith, and with the central ranger station there." (Leader-Telegram)
