September 3, 1926: "Work on a large glass and steel fire tower to be located upon the summit of Thunder mountain, the highest point in Wisconsin, will start soon, according to Fire Warden Joseph Bletz of Runbar, Marinette county. There will be telephone communication with other towers recently erected in Marinette county and all will be in operation early in October Mr. Bletz expects." (The Milwaukee Sentinel)
