JOHNSON MOUNTAIN
Missouri Lookouts - Iron County - Clark National Forest - 35N-1E-24
November 2, 1939: "Marvin Goforth stationed in the Johnson Mountain Tower near Potosi killed a large bobcat one day recently. He reported that a group of men had come to the mountain early that morning to hunt wolves. The dogs had been running something and everyone thought it was a wolf. It kept circuling, so Goforth decided to go down the side of the hill with a .22 rifle. The cat came through a clearing near him and he shot it through the back.
Before it could be shot through the head, it had clawed one of the dogs and bitten one through the foot." (St. Clair Chronicle)
