November 16, 1950: "The Gasconade Forestry District again proved of great value to the Central Missouri region this week when cattle and a barn of hay were saved by the work of the district.
The Dixon fire tower reported a fire southeast of Crocker into Vienna headquarters by radio and it was located by a cross shot from the Fort Leonard Wood tower. Towerman Jim Crossland of Ft. Wood was dispatched to the scene and found the blaze only 100 yards from a barn of cattle and hay belonging to C.E. Moore of Dixon. He drove out the cattle and fought the blaze until a fire fighting crew arrived from Dixon along with others including Moore himself, a local fire warden." (The Bland Courier)
